VMOBACKUP allows Microsoft 365 restores through an on-premises Veeam Backup & Replication installation.
Configuring VMOBACKUP as a Cloud Connect Provider #
To enable restores, the on-premises Veeam Backup & Replication server must be configured with VMOBACKUP O365 Service as a Cloud Connect Service Provider.
Steps to Configure:
- Open the Veeam Backup & Replication Console.
- Navigate to Backup Infrastructure > Service Providers.
- Click Add Service Provider.
- Enter the provided URL (from VMOBACKUP support) and click Next.
- Click Add…, then enter the username and password.
- Click Next and then Finish.
Performing Restores #
Selecting the Right Explorer #
Depending on the type of restore, open the correct Veeam Explorer from the Start Menu:

Connecting to the Restore Service #
Open the selected Veeam Explorer.
Right-click Stores (Exchange), Databases (SharePoint), or Organizations (Teams/OneDrive) and select “Connect to Veeam Backup for Office 365 Service Provider…”.
Choose the VMOBACKUP service provider URL from the dropdown.
Authenticate using a Microsoft 365 Global Admin account.

Selecting the Restore Point #
Choose the desired time frame for the restore or use the latest available state (default).
Click Open, and the selected data will be loaded for restores.
