Backup Features & Functionality
Virtually every component of Microsoft 365, including Email, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, and Entra ID. Whatever Veeam supports, we support.
Shared Mailboxes do not consume a license and are included in the backups at no charge. When a user leaves, you can convert them to a shared mailbox and Veeam will drop the license usage within 30 days.
Yes! You can restore a single email, an email folder, or the user’s entire mailbox. In addition, you can restore a single OneDrive file or entire folders.
Storage & Pricing
We offer secure credit card billing using Stripe. We do not store your credit card data, and everything is easy and secure with our Stripe integration. Your first 30 days are free, and after that, we charge in arrears for the previous month’s usage based on the last day of the month.
For the vast majority of companies, the answer is yes! However, in rare instances where storage usage is deemed excessive, VMOBACKUP reserves the right to limit services. Generally, excessive usage is defined as exceeding 150GB of storage per user on average.
Here’s how we calculate the average storage per user: All backup storage used, divided by the number of users protected to give us an average storage per user.
For example, a group of 10 users collectively using 1,500GB would be considered excessive, because 1,500GB divided by 10 users equals 150GB per user average.
Conversely, if one user uses 1,100GB and the remaining 9 average 10GB each, it would be within acceptable limits.
Yes, you can access your subscription information within the portal and change the service level as desired.
Yes, we can also provide ACH transfers, but you will need to email sales@vmobackup.com and request this option.
Security & Privacy
Yes, your data is fully encrypted in flight and at rest.
We are SOC 2, Type 2 audited annually and hosted within a secure and redundant data center.
Your data is stored in our Cincinnati or Michigan Data Centers. We do not utilize Azure, AWS, or any other cloud storage services; all storage is controlled directly by VMOBACKUP.
Yes, your data is always immutable by default, meaning it cannot be deleted or altered by ransomware or malicious actors during the retention period. The immutability period is set to 30-day compliance mode.
NOTE: All new customers/repositories that were created after April of 2025 have immutability enabled by default. If you have an account created before April 2025, please inquire with support@vmobackup.com to confirm your immutability status.
Yes, VMOBACKUP.COM undergoes an annual SOC audit.
Yes, with an executed Business Associate Agreement (BAA) in place we can provide HIPAA compliant Microsoft 365 backups.
Data Restoration & Recovery
Yes! You can restore a single email, an email folder, or the user’s entire mailbox. In addition, you can restore a single OneDrive file or entire folders.
We provide a background download option if you need large amounts of OneDrive, Sharepoint, Email or other data from Microsoft 365 backups. Very large amounts of data could require hours of background download before being available for download. VMOBACKUP will send an email notification when the background download has been completed. You can see your download requests and progress from the Portal Restore/Downloads menu item.
Yes, you can restore individual email items, folders, or entire mailboxes as PST files that are downloadable.
Entra ID
Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory) is Microsoft’s cloud-based identity and access management service. It manages every user, group, role, and permission in your Microsoft 365 environment. Microsoft does not natively back it up, so accidental deletions or misconfigurations can lock people out instantly with no way to recover.
Microsoft’s built-in recycle bin gives you just 30 days to recover deleted objects, and some object types are deleted instantly with no recycle bin at all. VMOBACKUP Entra ID backup takes automated point-in-time snapshots of your entire directory, so you can restore users, groups, roles, administrative units, and applications to any previous state for $0.75 per user / month.
No. The entire Entra ID instance is protected automatically.
Disabled and guest users are included in the backup at no extra cost.
Users can be restored for as long as the retention period dictates, which is configured per-job.
Yes. You can choose exactly which users, groups, or other objects to restore. You do not have to restore your entire directory.

Yes, you can access your subscription information within the portal and change the service level as desired.
